- Description:
- This intermediate level class includes more complex approaches to the Dobro. Harmonized playing (double stops) will be explored. Every week we will take an insightful look into the teachings of Stacy Phillips via his book. The student will study more scale concepts and apply the scales to improvisation in every class.
Get your Dobro out and make the musical progress you have always wanted. This class will help you succeed.
Prerequisites
This is an intermediate level class.
Students should be familiar with the Dobro fretboard, and Dobro rolls.
The Student should have command of the G major scale.
The class will be taught in the GBDGBD tuning.
Thumb and two finger picks are required.
A solid slide bar is required.
This is a lap style Dobro class.

Missy Raines has proven herself without doubt as an iconic bluegrass instrumentalist from her tenure playing with The Claire Lynch Band, Eddie Adcock, Josh Graves, Jim Hurst, Kenny Baker, and Jesse McReynolds to her 7 International Bluegrass Music Association Bass Player of the Year awards
Raines has stepped into the spotlight as a songwriter for the first time with her newest release, Royal Traveller. The album digs deep into Raines’ family life and her upbringing in West Virginia. The stand out track “Swept Away†was named 2018 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year. This track features the first 5 women to win IBMA instrumentalist awards - Raines, Alison Brown, Sierra Hull, Becky Buller, and Molly Tuttle.
Joining Missy in Seattle will be: Ben Garnett on guitar, David Benedict on mandolin, and Avery Merritt on fiddle.
